Youth, Families and Social Media – Wednesday April 17th

Teenagers today have grown up in a society where computers and cell phones have made it possible for them to share their lives instantly with the world. These digital natives regularly use social media to interact with families, friends and people around the world.

Dr. Merten will share research findings on youth and family social media use, discussing the impact that increased exposure to online activities has on teens and how parents can utilize social media to connect with their kids. Steve Hahn, community education services program manager at the Parent-Child Center of Tulsa, will join Dr. Merten to discuss different ways these adolescents use social media to interact with parents and peers.

Sponsored by the OSU-Tulsa Library, the Faculty Research Excellence Series is free and open to the public.

Attendees may bring their own sack lunch to the presentation or reserve one for $8.95 by calling 918-594-8133 by 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 16.
